Could be. I saw an article on macro photography by a guy named Rokach,
I believe, who seemed to have a close relationship with Olympus and who
gave picture credits to some OM lenses that did not yet exist. I
particularly remember a 200mm macro lens. This was after a particularly
long spell of no new OM lens introductions so I suspect some lens
development occurred that was nipped in the bud as Olympus decided to
just milk the system for the remaining profit in it. I think the
35-80/2.8 was the only one of a number of new designs that ever made it
to market.
