Makes me wonder what AF is for - perhaps what is needed is a varifocal fixed
focus lens.

Just a small addition to the Schnozz's comments on autofocus and events.

I was puzzled at first but then dragged out the DOF calculator and finally
realized that the DOF for the small, 1/3" sensor on the A1 is a lot more
than I thought; especially since 50 percent of the shots were taken at
equivalent focal lengths of 28-55mm.

I talk about DOF a lot but it took this event to bring it home.
Shooting digital brings a lot more changes than simply no film.
