I have the /3.5 MC too.
Regarding flare control, I found this lens to have a very appealing
characteristic:
If you want to, it can be found an incidence angle of a point light source
that produces a very nice thin red flare, almost purely red (well, don't
know the exact wavelenght...) and almost half circular.
I found it by chance several years ago, and sometimes look for it on
purpose.
Otherwise it's very well flare controled.
