I did something similar and did get hand inspections in most cases.
However, they were really irritated in a couple of cases despite my
mild mannered request. I stopped doing it because the possible
retaliation by an angry security person would be worse.
I switched to just taking new film on a trip(not previously xrayed). If
the trip requires getting off and reboarding the plane I leave the film
on board so it does not go through security again. Any left over gets
used at home or on car trips after that. I have never experienced
fogging.
