Keep in mind that the point at which an OM lens focuses on the E-1 may not
line up with the distance markings on the lens. The Olympus instruction sheet
for the OM adapter has the following note:

   "The distance scale on the OM system lens may not indicate the actual
    distance.  Always use the viewfinder for focusing."

You may have focused on something 5m away and the lens scale may indicate
it's at 3m.  This would of course render the DOF scales on the lens useless.
