The focus screens of most DSLRs are smaller than 35mm focusing
screens. That is absolutely true! My only point that I was
trying to make is that you can make the apparent focus screen
size bigger by hanging a larger magnifying glass in the
viewfinder and that doesn't affect brightness.
I believe there is some sinister plot being foisted on the
photographic community. But why? Is it because we have a new
generation of engineers (and product managers) that have only
known autofocus cameras? Do they all wear glasses and have
deeply recessed eyeballs? Or is it a means to force
professionals to justify the additional cost of a pro-level
camera costing $5000-10,000.
I think it's the latter.
