Sigh. I DO need a good field coat/jacket. The last really good one I
had was from Eddie Bauer, called "Stone Mountain" something, purchased
in the mid-80s, I believe. It was of a microfibre type of cloth that
was breathable, impervious to rain, lightweight, and had just the right
number and size of pockets for stuffing prime Zuikos. There were
matching field pants, which is as close as I ever came to looking
"military". The only drawback was that they could have been a little
durable, though the trade-off of course was their light weight and
extreme comfort.
I'm more apt to buy Eddie Bauer these days, though I have to be choosy
since EB has stuff that is primarily fashionable along with its
durable-durable-yet-nice-looking stuff. Maybe it's time to order an L L
Bean catalogue, though around here Carhartt is de rigeur. Tho I doubt
many Carhart wearers could pronounce "de rigeur". ;-)
