The top of my van is about eight feet off the ground but the wind moves that
thing way too much to ever use if for a photo platform. I can shoot from the
windows if there isn't too much wind. The springs on Adams' old
International had probably not moved for years.....they were very stiff. I
suppose if one were being serious about it a set of motor home jacks could
be installed to stabilize things. /jmac

Adams built a platform for the top of his International Travelall and
took many of his famous shots from it with the sweeping foreground
leading the eye to the object of interest. A company now has a kit for
doing something similar in the digital age with a boom and remote
controlled camera. Some of them get high enough to look almost like low
altitude aerial shots.
