Samsung has made a number of products which use Memory Stick. There may
be one or two other companies, but I don't remember who they were
(Sharp?) and I don't know if they still make MS-compatible products.
And, as others noted, there are lots of "universal" players out there.
I remember Elcaset. I also remember U-Matic, a format which predeceded
Beta and features a somewhat-similar design (it's actually still in
use). Then there was MiniDisk (audio only; forgot that the first time).
To give Sony some credit, they _did_ share patents on Compact Disc with
Philips. But if they were a major-league baseball player, Sony's batting
average on new standards would have them back in the minor leagues.
