Hi John,

Its the Harringworth railway viaduct. The viaduct spans the Welland valley
and is three quarters of a mile long. It was completed in 1878 and has 82
arches each of which has a 40 ft span and an average height of 60ft. The 20
million bricks used were made on site from local clay and the viaduct was
constructed by 3000 navvies who came from as far afield as Ireland. The
attraction was the wages ranging from £1.5s per week for labourers to £2.10s
per week for bricklayers. They were housed together with their families in
huts which formed a temporary 'village' named Cyprus.
