*Subject:* Fujifilm Update
To our alumni:
I know some of you are partial to Fujichrome Velvia 50. They have
stopped making the film and have no intention to start again. If you
want to stockpile a bit, I would recommend doing so now. It is being
replaced with a new Fuji Velvia 100, not the 100F version. The new film
will be available in June and should be a significant improvement over
the 100F. The new film will be more saturated, but lack some of the
magenta undertones that the ISO 50 has. It will be a slightly more
neutral film. They thought the current supply of Velvia 50 in the
marketplace would last until about October, but the rumor has gotten out
about it being stopped, so they now think it will only last a couple of
months. This morning, I had difficulty getting the amount of 220 film
that I wanted from B&H, so there may already be some shortages at
times. I hope this helps some of you.
This is not a rumor at this point.
