I have not seen a Tamron 17/3.5 with any filter thread at all. The filter
thread is only in the hood. Possibly you have a lens which has had the
filter thread put in by a repair shop?

Subject: [OM] Why Lens & Hood filter threads for 17/3.5 ?
Hello,
What is it for that Tamron 17/3.5 (for example) has a thread on the lens
(67mm) and an other inside the hood (82mm) ?
Would not a slim 67mm filter vignette
nor a "normal" 82mm ?
Any explanation from your great experience ?
Thanks.
Anyway it is a good lens.
Christian
