Hi Moose,
<snip>
Check the weather first, Bill.
I'm a great fan of Last of the Summer Wine, which is shot in a little
English village in really beautiful countryside in W. Yorkshire. But
everytime I thnik how much I would like to be there, I notice that the
characters are generally fully dressed, often with coats over wool
suits. Then I notice in closeups while they are laying about out in the
country that the grass, etc. around them is dancing about in quite a
lively manner.
</snip>
Well spotted !! Yes, it is not as warm as they make it out to be. But
quite a lot of that is due to the fact that they film a lot of it during
the colder months when it's quieter (read that as "free of tourists").
Given the age of most of the cast, I imagine they'd be wearing many
layers under their costumes to keep warm !! If you find the warm day of
the year, it's actually very pleasant up there !!
Anyway, although not directly involved with the filming, they edit the
program and screen it in front of the live audience in the studios where
I work. They've just finished screening the latest series. Longest
running comedy series apparently, and no plans to stop just yet ...
Regards,
Jon
