The Ecru is actually just an original Stylus in a fancy case. And like the
Stylus, the wind/rewind gears eventually wear out, unless someone pulls the
film out of the camera to strip them first. Yes, the take-up on this model
should turn whenever the back switch is closed -- if it doesn't, it needs
new gears.
