I certainly agree. I love my DSLR, I had fun shooting for the latest
TOPE and I've been having a lot of fun playing with the scanned images
from that roll. Why can't both be good?

Besides, it's already happened.

"In fact, the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II has set a new benckmark - delivering
higher resolution and color accuracy than any ISO 100 film we've ever
tested."
- Pop Photography, 2/05 review

Of course, that is an $8,000 camera, but price/performance will continue
to improve and that level of performance will soon be at our doorsteps
in consumer level cameras.

In fact, full 24x36 frame digital was already quite competetive with MF
film with the original 1Ds and clearly superior to 35mm Provia 100F in
sharpness, resolution and noise

But why let that get in the way of continued enjoyment of film. It is a
different medium, with its own special qualities. Just find somewhere
else to project your own unique and special nature, preferrably
something likely to stay 'The Best" until you can reclaim the projection
and integrate it as part of a much more secure and self-capable self.
Then just go on enjoying photography of all sorts.

Yes Sir!

Whatever fully engages us and provides joy is worth the effort. Anything
that doesn't, no matter how much or strongly the voices inside and
outside say it is what we Should or Must be doing, is deleterious to the
soul, mind and body, and thus not worth the extra effort. Trying to
convince, let alone force, others to find joy in the same way you do
only diminishes you and invites them to diminish themselves.

"When your real, effortless, joyful nature is realized, it will not be
inconsistent with the ordinary activities of life." - Ramana Maharshi

So even the enlightened may continue to enjoy the joys of photography!
And some, I'm sure, already do.

Live, love and be happy,
Moose
