Dick asked:
Any opinions on the Epson 2200? Thinking of getting one and wanted to
know what the groups experience might be with this printer.

Superb printer. I use one ocassionally that is owned by a friend. Most
recently I used it to produce some B&W prints from a restoration job I
had done. A 1940's 8x10 with literally thousands of cracks in the
emulsion. I wanted regular chemical prints but the lab had tried three
times to make a B&W print from the digital image and none of them suited
me. Always too dark and contrasty. They finally grew exasperated with
me and offered me my money back to quit pestering them.
That's when I turned to the 2200 which did produce some beautiful
prints. I should note that the printer was setup for ordinary color
work and did not have the special sets of inks that are available for
strictly B&W work.
No scientific data here but the surface of the 2200 prints strikes me as
physically soft and prone to scratching if roughly handled... at least
as compared to prints from my old HP P1100. However, the image quality
from the P1100 just doesn't compare. The 2200 blows it away. The 2200
owner suggests that the prints will harden with a couple days drying
time. I don't know. So far, whatever I've printed has been turned over
quickly to someone else and I have advised them to mount the prints
under glass.
On the 2200 owner's wall there are some 13x19" portraits of young girls
done on water color paper. Stunning.
