Sorry, a bit briefer reply than intended that but, nope, I just mean that
I've had no problems using MF lenses on C*n*n bodies without changing
screens.
Back in the days when I was able to manually focus accurately I always used
the plain screen anyway (2-4 I think?) as I find I then look at the whole
image rather than squinting at a central focusing aid.

Do you mean there is electronics focusing aid in 300D when MF lens (like OM
lens) is used? I have use 10D before, both 10D and E-1 has electronics
focusing aid for AF lenses in manual focus mode but both are not support MF
lenses.
