I think you have been more than reasonable. Stick to your guns, and make
very sure you get the money safe in your hands before the lens goes
anywhere.
I suggest you just tell him politely that
(a) he didn't pay using the methods you specified
(b) as a result of his action, delays have now unavoidably entered the
payment verification system.
(c) when his MO clears and the money is safely in your account you will
send the lens, and not before - following standard eBay practice.
I also would not send him a single extra thing. Why reward bad behaviour
and threatening letters?
I suggest that we all note that < josephvi > is possibly heading to join
<breitling_exclusives > as a person to avoid on eBay.
This sort of OT, being in the public interest, is not likely to stir up flames
IMHO
It's not eBay politics so much as acceptable business behaviour, which his
is not.
