I have switched completely to Mozilla Firefox for browsing and Mozilla
Thunderbird for email. Tho my wife and kids being a bit less PC
literate...still click on 'IE' and wouldnt you know it....one of them
must have hit some obscure site and installed something called WINTOOLS.
It was rather difficult to get rid of this lil bugger but I finally got
it out.
Just as an FYI - I use Mozilla products, Norton AV Corporate, Lava-soft
Ad-aware, and SPYBOT. To debug spyware I also use HIJACKTHIS and
CWSHREDDER. However, sometimes you have to use good old skills and debug
in 'REGEDIT'....tho this is risky and I suggest using caution when
working with the registry.
Tonight as I removed the WINTOOLS parasite...I also came across a nifty
little applet which is a good replacement for the STARTUP (MSCONFIG)
called STARTUPCPL.EXE. Lets you customize things that startup and delete
unwanted things. It also warns you when something is trying to register
itself to startup.

- Ali
