I'd guess probably about the same time frame for the Bessa-L, 1998/1999. You
really can't tell what came first, nor can you say the OM2000 was truly
designed in 1997. It may have only been announced, or the idea floated in 1997,
(for
an OM mount body) since Cosina had been making many cameras for many
different camera companies for many years. They also made no bones about the
OM2000
being a derivative of the cheap 'Nikon' (FM10?) they were making at the time.
The wind lever and/or meter switch may have been designed in 1997, or have been
a borrowed part from some other Cosina camera from say,1987 or 1977 for that
matter. I suspect we'll never know.
