Hi all
I did some digging about lens resolution (wanting to see how this Sigma
APO compared) and have come up with some selected data;
http://brashear.phys.appstate.edu/lhawkins/photo/mp-zuiko-tests.txt
(Zuiko lenses unless otherwise stated)
21/1 87 lpmm, 24/2.8 SC 80 lpmm, 35/2 SC 60 lpmm, 40/2 MC 69 lpmm,
50/1.2 MC 63 lpmm, 50/1.4 MC 69 lpmm, 50/1.8 SC 90 lpmm, 100/2 69 lpmm,
100/2.8 SC 62 lpmm, 180/2.8 MC 69 lpmm, 200/4 SC 42 lpmm, 500/8 45 lpmm,
35-70/3.6 68,68,73 lpmm; 35-70/3.5-4.5 63,63,64 lpmm;
35-105/3.5-4.5 MC 70,72,70 lpmm; 75-150/4.0 65,65,60 lpmm;
100-200/5.0 62,62,50 lpmm; 50/3.5 SC macro 76, 70 lpmm;
90/2.0 MC macro 70 (51,45 mac) lpmm; 24/3.5 MC shift 69 lpmm;
35/2.8 MC? shift 67, 60 lpmm; XA 35/2.8 67 lpmm,
The Stylus Epic apparently does 90 line pairs /mm
Bob Atkins in
http://bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/eosfaq24/4lenses.html
quotes the Sigma 400mm 5.6 APO MF at 60 lpmm wide open,
and quotes the best of the Canon long lenses at 130 lpmm
( lpmm = line pairs per mm)
The Hasselblad Sonnar 2,8/150: gives 200 line pairs /mm according to Dr
Kornelius J. Fleischer in a photonet forum (search for SONNAR FE 150
(Lens qualitiy and converter 2XE),
The Hasselblad Superachromat 5,6/250: produces extreme sharpness (250
line-pairs per millimeter) at the plane of best focus.
