My Geordie speaking friend's families actually came from Ireland. They are
citizens of merry old England though. In the UK who's who and where they
came from is a little difficult for me to sort out. When I claim ignorance
it is seldom questioned. /jmac

And just what makes you think that Geordies are English? They are but
one of several northern tribes - mine is Lancastrian (my 'dreaming' is
the Fylde) and I'm claiming it as a distinctive ethnicity. The
language, food, lifestyle and humour is quite different. I've even got
a dictionary/phrase book somewhere.
