Are you already a regular user of Kodachrome? If not, it is probably not a good
idea to spend the time and money to learn to use it, as there are apparently
only two labs worldwide that can process it, and Kodak is a bit coy about its
future. Of course, if it is an old friend, use it like mad, as it is certainly
in the hospice.
Fuji makes some quite good chromes. Just about anything commercial still shot
on chrome is on Provia, except fashion, which favors Astia. Provia is generally
considered neutral (that is to say more probably think it is neutral as do
Kodachrome) in color, and acceptable in saturation and contrast. Astia is of
lower saturation and contrast, and works very well for skin tones.
Kodak has made some real improvments in Ektachrome, in the G films, but the
cost is much higher, so I just stick with fuji.
