I believe the only level things we ever see are:
- sea-water on the horizon (and that has earth curvature)
- some edges/lines of man-made objects such as buildings (Pisa and Iwert's
designs excepted:-)
- other?
and the only perpendicular things we ever see are:
- again, some edges/lines of buildings
- plumb-lines
- water dripping
- other?
Water in rivers and lakes may be level but what we see is not usually the water
(unless we're half-submerged) but the opposite bank which can be at any angle,
so psychology plays a huge part...
