Quoting from a photo.net message reposted here about a year ago by Fernando,
here is the gist:
The code was introduced in 1983.
First and second characters show the production plant
Third letter shows the production year with 1981 as "A"
Fourth letter shows the production with Jan as "A".
"TNxx" is thought to represent the Tatsuno plant in Nagano province, and
"xxNC" would be March 1994.

HOWEVER, that isn't the full story, as I have a code TNI2 before me!

Can anyone decode TNNC 19 for me?
Or better still, provide a universal decoding system? The one at S21 of the
Hawkins FAQ
(http://brashear.phys.appstate.edu/lhawkins/photo/olympus.faq.html) only
works for the 1, 2 and 10.
Thanks,
Simon
