In this particular case you may be doing the seller a disservice, as Ali did
not include their additional words "We are offering this lens with no
reserve and the express understanding that it is not optically perfect.
However, if you find clear evidence that it is showing up in the images we
will be glad to refund the purchase price" which seems to me to be as fair
as you can expect. The seller has in excess of 2700 feedbacks, 100%
positive. And they posted a clear image of the problem area. C'mon, what
more do you expect?
Since Ali did not post the item number, I assume that he spots a potential
bargain, and I will respect the confidentiality by not posting it either,
but an image of the lens in question is here:

While it doesn't quite match the description Gord gave, I think the problem
is analogous to Gord's; is likely unrepairable short of a replacement front
group; is likely to be reflected in the closing price; and is probably to be
lived with. Olympususa has a better shape example (minus the front cap) for
USD700. You make your choice and you pay your money.

That throw away comment "...has no affect on image quality" really p*sses me
off.
Most sellers are clueless with respect to this comment. Have they performed
critical tests, or is it that they can't see a "giant blob" when they look
through the viewfinder ?
