Well, let's see. If I use a CoF (Circle of Confusion) of .006
millimeters (being generous here), the DoF would be 1.33 feet to
infinity at F2.8.
Not too difficult when your focal length is 3.7 mm. However
diffraction limitation is actually less than F2.8 so that's why
the fancy materials and algorithms.
It's just physics.
