Hm, well SCSI is what's causing my scanner miscommunication problem.
Tried installing a new version of ASPI following Moose's suggestion but
no joy. Uninstalled all scanner software and reinstalled it all but it
didn't help. I will try installing Vuescan and see if that makes any
difference.
