The aspect ratio (screen width to screen height) is 2.35 to 1.00. Back in
the day this was 'Wide Screen" or "Cinerama" or something. When television
first took off in the early 1950's, wider aspect ratios was one of the
things (along with 3D and other tricks...) that Hollywood tried to keep from
losing the audience. Until that time, most all movies were 4:3 ratio, the
same as TV (which got it from movies) and also the same as most computer
monitors for a long time... Now the HDTV screens are coming out in 16:9
ratio, to imitate the movies... the circle turns <g>.
