I used to set the Nikon LS4000 scanning a neg and go for a coffee. Now I can
download a full 4gb CF card (350+ images) in the same time.
As a result I have for sale one fully serviced Nikon LS4000 - it came back
from the service and has simply not been hooked back up; film scanning is
just so slow and tedious compared to direct digital capture.

To my way of thinking, you have just explained that your free time has zero
'cost' (and your working time not much more than that) - which is fair
enough. But for your time to have also zero 'value' suggests that there is
_nothing_ you would rather do than scan someone else's slides for GBP40 a
shot. Maybe that _is_ what you mean!
Theer's an old joke about economists/accountants/managers/politicians who
know the cost of everything but the value of nothing. Oscar Wilde?

I'm not exactly paid a fortune at the best of times, and if it's a hobby,
essentially your time *does* have zero value.
