At our vet's, we were told recently that the vast majority of found cats had no
ID -- which means their previous owners have no idea that they are alive. We
acquired one abandoned cat two months ago and she had kittens shortly
thereafter -- no tatoo, no chip, although she was perfectly gregarious and
housebroken (the kittens are growing up to be messy little monsters, though).
