I suspect you and he are right John.
I noted from one of the news reports that Ilford is owned by a Venture
Capital company. It is therefore likely that it will divest itself of
Ilford to a less shareholder-minded concern. In many ways the UK-US
culture of short-term shareholder satisfaction over long-term
investment is the curse of our businesses. It is difficult to see how
they could not make Ilford profitable (£40m loss last year), but a
turnround artist should do the trick. I even had a daydream of doing
it myself a couple of days ago. A neighbour is a company doctor who
buys ailing companies cheaply and he tells me his techniques every now
and then. I might go and buy him a chewy beer ... ;-)
