There are several RF-type wireless speaker systems available. They're
typically not high-power, but they're relatively inexpensive if you just want
some
sound in various locations. I haven't investigated them in depth, but you can
find them through stereo stores, etc. I don't know if you have Radio Shack
stores in the UK, but this is an ad for an Advent brand system:
