You swapped a GR-1 for a mju-II?
Putting aside brand loyalty (or whatever), was there anything that really
affected this choice? I was under the impression that the GR-1 series lens
was superior.

Yes, the pre-wind feature does have that problem. I had a Ric*h GR-1 which
did the same, but I swapped it for an Oly Mju-2 ;-)
I believe some EOS film cameras do the same. My only EOS (300D) is not
film-based, but my sensor is still quite dirty -- I'm trying no to stop
down beyond f/8 :-(
