Here are two scans with and without ICE with my N*kon 4000ED at 4000DPI:

I don't think there is noticeable lost of details, make a slight sharpen on
the ICE one will make it equal or better then the one without ICE.
BTW, I had a 2700dpi N*kon (LS2000) before, the 4000dpi one makes a big
different, you should try one.
