Fuji's Super CCD is interesting because it has two sensors at each
site. The point of the design is to extend the dynamic range of the
sensor by splitting the range of light values they can capture. So far
it has not been too impressive in their consumer digicams, but neither
was their old design. However, if it is as successful as the old design
in the S2 Pro, the S3 Pro should be something special. Today they made
a bunch of announcements and mentioned that the contribution from each
co-located sensor would be user adjustable and they they will provide
specific setting that will mimic film response for specific brands that
film users are fond of. I thought it was an interesting sensor
development and application.
