(See attached file: samples.zip)
Walt,
I made the attached samples of an image from my recent acquisition of a
D-70 (don't tell the OM-ers!)
Your image was 36x24 and you scanned it at 5400dpi which should give an
image 7650x5100
You then cropped 1/15th - that results in an image of about 510x340
My image was 3000x2000 and I also cropped it to 1/15th - that results in an
image about 200x133
This would give a direct comparison to yours assuming we both filled the
frame with what we wanted to see.
But mine's smaller :-(
So that you can compare it to your image I upsampled mine 250% (PS,
bicubic, one-shot)
So there are 3 images:
- the original, but downsampled from 3000x2000 to 600x400 so the file is
not huge but you can see the full frame
- the 1/15th crop
- the crop, upsampled to be the same size as yours.
According to my calculations, comparing your image and my final one side by
side should be a fair comparison (color/b&w aside..)
Let us know what you feel about the various results and feedback you got...
