And when scanning a negative, is it a black line?
Zoom in and see if it's exactly one pixel. If it's dirt it'll probably be
wider than that and can be cleaned.
If it's a dead pixel then you can get rid of it with any post-processing
software with a 'scratch filter'.

My previously faultless CanoScan FS2710 film scanner has developed a
problem which might have been experienced by other users.
When scanning a slide, the on screen preview image shows a single perfectly
straight very thin white line streching the entire width of the image.The
line is just below centre and appears regardless of which slide has been
scanned. Otherwise, the image scan is perfect.
Does anyone have any ideas or is this time to visit the local Canon film
scanner repair technician?
