What a bummer! Could well be a dead pixel.
Before I gave up, I would go in and find out whre the sensor is and make
sure it isn't just a piece of dust, hair, etc. on the sensor. I keep
mine closed, but there is still a fair amount of dust in there. If that
didn't work, I'd also try to gain access to whatever connects to the
sensor array an give it a gentle wiggle.
