Thanks Piers and Roger,
I've been unable to find info on the QZ-35m until now. It's a nice lens but
a bit too heavy to use for casual shooting. But I must admit it's been
reponsible for one of my best images.

Model QZ-35m - it has the old style tamron logo all lower-case, with the
'matching' crackle finish grip.
http://tinyurl.com/2ofdt is in Japanese, but with a picture to aid
identification. Babelfish is not playing today for a translation.

The Tamron 35-80/2.8-3.5 was a predecessor to the SP 2.8-3.8 and other
Adaptall-2 lenses. The 35-80/2.8-3.8 SP (Model 01A) was introduced in 1980,
the 2.8-3.5 was introduced in 1977.
