During repair training for the OM-4, our trainer mentioned that it was
normal for there to be a discrepancy between the spot and average meter
readings with wide angle lenses due to the "optical characteristics" of
those lenses.  He refused to elaborate (which means he probably didn't
know!), but we speculated that it might have to do with the angle of the
reflecting surfaces of the sub-mirror.
