Hi John,
I followed your instructions, placed the body cap, taped a cover to the
eyepiece, set the camera on Auto and released the shutter.
Sad news - The shutter time is only about 5 seconds.
I ran a roll of B & W film to test the exposures in Auto mode. Normal
shooting (with shutter speed of 1/4 and faster) appears in order. Only the
ones with
long exposures of 1 to 5 seconds ( with the use of tripod) resulted to thin
negatives.
For sure there is a defect in the camera. This is what I want to discover.
Much as I like to send it to you but I'm in a far away place (Philippines).
Shipping cost alone is quite prohibitive. Please give me some tips on
where to look as I dissect the camera. I have 3 OM-1 and 1 OM-1n which I
have successfully CLA'd. I have a little knowledge in electronics which I
learned while working on audio amplifier kits. I downloaded and read Mark
Dapoz' OM2 repair manual.
I hope I can be successful especially when you give me some pointers in
locating the trouble.
Thanks in advance.
Dado
