The meter movement, cell, and circuit board w/calibrated resistors were
supplied as an assembly -- replace one, and you're supposed to replace all.
If you were to find a new "spare" cell it might work, though I don't know to
what extent age would have affected it, unused though it may be.
Calibration might be a problem, of course, but you might get it pretty
close. A generic cell would be almost worthless, I suspect -- I wouldn't
consider it worth the effort to even try to get it to work.
