Maybe their strategy will actually turn out to be ingenious. They don't
endorse the adapter but they are giving it away -- FREE -- to people who
request it. If word gets out and they end up giving away lots of them, then
maybe they get the benefit of increased E-1 sales to us Zuikoholics, along with
the the inevitable follow-on Zuiko Digital sales (Let's face it -- even
Zuikoholics will eventually gravitate toward the Zuiko Digital lenses once they
enter the E system), without the risk of criticism for any inferior performance
of OM Zuiko glass on the E-1.

To be sure it's the almighty yen :-) Less profitable to sell an adapter than
to sell a
lens. Olympus hopefully realised that adapters sell bodies and bodies sell
lenses,,,
eventually.
