Smileys noted Walt, and appreciated. Perhaps you also noticed that I said
"oddly", meaning that I didn't think it was an opinion to be expected or
rationalised, and found it as curious as you did! And also that I included
"..." to signify I expected follow-up - I am surprised you are the only one
to (ever so gently) take me to task.
Here goes:
AG himself alluded to part of the reason - that his explanations of his
'adventures' are expressed in terms which make it easy to appreciate the
characteristics of the digital camera _from the perspective of an OM user_.
AG does a good job of highlighting what the A1 does well for him, and
compare it to what the OM does better (and not better). In that respect,
even though he is describing a digital camera, his posts are (for me at
least) actually highly relevant to an OM-user. Indeed, he has clarified for
me some reasons for not going digital - in addition to my already
well-established blind prejudice.
On the other hand, discussions of favourite films (while arguably _at least_
as OM-relevant as AG digital postings) are not OM-specific. Though I am
assuming that the colour rendition of Velvia is pretty much the same whether
using a Zuiko on a re-mounted Nik*n body or a pinhole on a 3Ti - should I
put _my_ smiley here, or shall I leave you guessing ;-)
Thanks for the forbearance.
Piers

Okay, Piers, I've held my peace for the required 24 hours, more or less, so
here goes:
Since this is the Olympus OM List, and since each and every OM-whatever I
have needs film to be anything more than a paperweight -- albeit a really
nice one -- and since those of us who have one (or more, hopefully) need to
make some sort of judgment, informed or otherwise, about what kind of film
to use on those occasions when we wish to actually put them to the use for
which they were intended and take a picture of something or another, how
come it is that talking about favorite pixel-makers is LESS OT than talking
about favorite films?
Just another curious mind wanting to know how you came up with that opinion.
:-)
Please note the smiley. Here's another: ;-)
