Yes it *is* hard to come by (I suspect there were some licensing problems
which caused Tamron to cease manufacture).
I can't imagine that an EOS Adaptall 2 mount would make an AF lens, if that
is what you mean Skip.
$160 does *not* seem high to me, since #3701568563 made an *opening* bid of
$150 in February this year (I don't know what the closing price was). But
compared to the lens prices, yes, high! I expect the image quality is at
least as good as any AF lens...

Perhaps the EOS adapter is particuarly hard to find. The EOS was introduced
at the end of they hey-day for the Tamron Adaptall lenses. Did the adapter
offer full lens automation for the lenses?
But $160? It still sounds high. I have a Tamron SP 17mm lens that I didn't
pay $160 for!
