Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Yes, I'm going in this
morning and make a few calls. Need to talk to a lady about the life insurance
and Roth IRA & another about a bill which is difficult to understand. Need to
grab a couple of pictures of properties I insure on the way out of town, but
then it is hit the road.
Houston has several National Wildlife Reserves within an easy drive and has
some great areas for birding, one of which is a rookery which is home to many
big birds this time of year. They come in and nest, lay their eggs and hatch
their young. An absolutely incredible sight. This is the height of the season
and fortunately a little ahead of the mesquito season, so I'm out of here for
the afternoon.
The kit, which will soon be stashed in the back of my Suburban, is a couple
of sturdy tripods, two OM 2S bodies, 400mm Tamron f4, 180mm Tamron f2.5, 90mm
Tamron f2.5, Vivitar extension tubes, 21mm f2 Zuiko, a few filters, several
rolls of slide film and a roll of Tri-X. I'll throw in a couple of bottles of
water and some bug spray and then I'll be off to Galveston, the Bolivar Ferry
and High Island. Now that sounds like fun.
