For those OM technologists interested in digital CCD technology, have a look at
the DALSA website, which includes lots of app notes and specs for their
"professional line" of sensors. The largest is a double 35mm film size
(36x48mm) 22Mpixels. There are some interesting discussions of micro-lensed vs
non-lensed designs and the effect of metalization depth and fill factor. Also
the dynamic range/temperature/readout speed vs noise trade-off. Some of their
sensors were used on the recent Mars lander cameras. Their range of
photographic sensors goes from "APS size" through 35mm to double 35mm size. The
fill factors approach 90% because they are not interline sensors and thus
generally will work better than micro-lensed designs, accomodating wide angled
lenses and fast lenses not designed for digital use better than other sensors.
