My vote is for your comment Richard! :-P
Also, you have to take into account the pass through medium - film - and
then the scanner. I have no doubt some filmscanners are the equal - or
better - than some dslrs, but I feel the image "loses" something between
mediums. Digicams feel "cleaner" to me, colour(or lack
thereof)/contrast/grain. Still, nothing feels more rewarding to me than
milling around blindly in a darkroom attempting to enlarge your
favourite negative.
