Dun - short for Anglo Saxon dunnikin - a place to shit. Unlike all
the modern words which mean a place to wash (lavatory, toilet).
Preserved in Australian slang - 'dunny.' Hence, there is nothing
drabber than a dunny and the colour brown predominates.
Creative etymology rocks, hey?
